So to understand who Marilu is, you have to go back, way back, to Davis High School (before the remodeling) into our Spanish class. I can't even remember the teacher's name (and I even dug out the year books to find her and couldn't), but that is where Marilu was born, right there in that class. Yolanda was born there too. And until last Thursday, they hadn't shared a quesadilla in nearly 15 years! (What is a quesadilla, you might ask? A fancy spanish word for a couple of tortillas with melted cheese in the middle). There is no better time than October to rekindle friendships, so on the way to Utah to visit family, Brynn, Bailey, Luke, and I stopped by Marilu's house for lunch and lots of laughs. Marilu is really Sarah, my life-long friend from Mrs. Butler's 1st grade class. Isn't that crazy? We have known each other for 24 years! 24 YEARS! Wow.....that's a long time. Whenever we get together (or just even talk on the phone) we end up laughing so hard that my cheeks hurt. In fact, on the way down I was talking to her on the phone and getting directions (really, how funny can that be?) and somehow, we ended up laughing about something or other and when I hung up, I was still laughing and smiling to myself and my girls asked what I was laughing about and all I could say was, "I love Sarah, she cracks me up." There are few people with whom I feel so comfortable that I can be my goofy old self and have them sincerely laugh with me.....or at me, take your pick. Anyway, it was so fun talking about life and family and everything else along the way. We joke about pre-arranged marriages for our kids, but it is no laughing matter anymore! She's got some lookers there at her house and I was especially impressed when her oldest slicked his hair, not once, but twice to make a good impression (how cute is that)? So here's to Marilu, may we forever be friends and maybe someday, in-laws! Thanks, Sarah, for providing me with some much needed laughter!
